On February 11, Syed Kamall hosted a key event at the House of Lords championing the Plastic Free Ramadan initiative—an environmental campaign aimed at reducing plastic waste in mosques across the UK . Originally launched in 2019 by Projects Against Plastic (PAP), the initiative has gained nationwide momentum, helping mosques cut their plastic waste by up to 70% through sustainable solutions such as water fountains, dishwashers, and reusable crockery.

With an estimated 500 mosques in the UK generating significant plastic waste, Plastic Free Ramadan aims to eliminate over 500 tonnes of waste annually.
