Syed Kamall has successfully added an important amendment to the Health and Care Bill, bringing the NHS in England one step closer to a legal duty to plan and fund palliative care. The amendment mandates integrated care boards (ICBs) to commission palliative care for individuals of all ages, including children and young people. Advocacy group Together for Short Lives supported the amendment and urged the government to provide clarity on how ICBs will implement the requirements.
