Uber/Sharing EconomyUK Meetings

I held two meetings today to discuss the Sharing Economy.

My first meeting was with Uber, the ride sharing app. The platform is used by millions of Londoners but has raised concerns around the world about how it operates and it’s legal status.

These issues are much publicised and my aim today was to talk about these concerns but also to ask about the future for the sharing economy.

As firms get bigger does that change their original premise of being a piece of technology that just links people?

I then went to meet with SharingEconomyUK. This is a trade body who represent people such as Uber, AirBnb, Zipcar, TaskRabitt and others. I wanted to learn from them what they saw as the challenges to sharing economy.

After both meetings I realised that there was just too much to say in a short video and so I’ll be rounding up more of the issues we covered over the coming months.

In the meantime, here is the video I recorded after the meetings.
