Karen Davies, founder and CEO of Purple Shoots, joined Syed Kamall for the sixth Entrepreneurial Minds seminar on 8 April 2026 at the Enterprise Hub, Vinson Building, University of Buckingham.
Davies shared the story behind Purple Shoots, a not-for-profit microfinance organisation she established to tackle poverty, unemployment, and financial exclusion. Drawing on her background in financial services and small business, she explained how the charity provides small loans to aspiring entrepreneurs unable to access mainstream finance — helping to create over 700 businesses since 2013. Her conversation with Syed offered a compelling look at how community-led enterprise can transform lives.
