The UK’s National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) has allocated £161 million to fund 28 NIHR Clinical Research Facilities (CRFs) across England. These CRFs will enhance the capacity for early-phase clinical research in NHS hospitals, supporting trials from the first-in-human stage to early safety and efficacy trials. The funding aims to strengthen the UK’s position as a global hub for life sciences and drive innovation in experimental medicine, ultimately translating discoveries into new treatments for patients. The investment demonstrates the government’s commitment to maintaining the UK’s leadership in diverse and groundbreaking research, contributing to the improvement of healthcare services.
