I am delighted to say that I have been invited to speak at a new TEDx event in Kingston Upon Thames later this year.
TED talks, as I am sure you know, are a world-famous series of speaking events which offer a punchy, energetic style of event. There are no podiums and talks are kept to less than 18 minutes, meaning that speakers have to cram in as much exciting information as they can in that time.
The format has been so popular that the events have expanded far beyond the original team and now a series of TED “x” events brings the format to an even wider audience.
The theme of this year’s event in Kingston is ‘Innovating, Empowering, Overcoming’.
The topic of my talk is “Knocking the T off can`t” and I hope I can encourage everyone in the room to realise that whatever their background there is so much you can achieve.
It should be an amazing event. Two of my fellow speakers, who have also just been announced, are Michiel Hoefsmit, who ran one of the toughest races in the world across the Sahara desert and Graham Buckingham who tries to teach us that sharks are not as bad as we all think! More speakers will be revealed soon.
The event takes place on the 5th November at Kingston University.
