I have been contacted by a constituent who is concerned about the alleged shooting of Syrian refugees by Turkish border guards.

According to my constituent, eight Syrian refugees, most of them women and children, were shot in recent months trying to cross the border into Turkey.

My constituent is naturally concerned about the EU-Turkey Joint Action Plan’s designation of Turkey as a safe third country.

Can the Vice-President/High Representative:
1. confirm whether she is aware of these events;
2.if so, explain how this will affect the EU-Turkey Joint Action Plan on refugees;
3. explain what measures the EU can and will take against Turkey to prevent a recurrence of such shootings?
