The start of February was an exciting time in the European Parliament. Martin Schulz stepped down as the President to concentrate on his own campaign to become Chancellor of Germany for the SPD. This ended a 30 month coalition with Jean Claude Juncker and opened up the process to vote in a new President.

Antonio Tajani was appointed in the role after the elections had been finalised.

In my article for Conservative Home this month, I write about the race to secure the position of President with different candidates from all the parties hoping to be elected.

The choice of candidate could crucial for the future direction of the EU.
